Bali is a tiny island forming part of the Indonesian archipelago, a 5,200-kilometer-long strip of over 13,000 islands stretching between Malaysia in the west and Australia in the east. It is located just east of the island of Java, easily reached by a short ferry ride.

Bali Island with an area of 5808 square kilometers is divided into 8 (eight) regencies and 1 (one) municipality. This island is inhabited by 3.2 million people who are mostly farmers.

All areas, either regencies or municipality, place Mount Agung as the orientation. Mount Agung is placed as kaja (north) and the direction to the sea is considered as kelod (south). That's why the south direction for people in Singaraja will be opposite of the people in the southern part of Bali (Badung).
